Well, aren’t we in for a treat today? Joe Biden made an appearance on ‘Late Night’ and it was a spectacle of blunders that left many viewers with their jaws on the floor. Our commander-in-chief sat down with host Seth Meyers, attempting to spin a rosy picture of America’s economy. He claimed it to be the best in the world, promising to keep it that way. But between his gaffes, he managed to take a dig at his chief rival, saying the guy can’t even remember his wife’s name. That’s some rich irony, considering Biden himself has been known to mix up names, including his own wife and sister.
Conservative commentator Bennie Johnson was quick to remind everyone on Twitter about that particular incident during a campaign rally. I mean, who are we kidding here? This is like a pot calling the kettle black situation, don’t you think?
And just when you thought the cringe-worthy moments were over, Biden added another gem to his collection. When asked about his agenda for a second term, he responded, “the 2020 agenda is to finish the job.” Now, I don’t know about you, but last time I checked, we’re a tad past 2020.
Despite polls showing deep dissatisfaction with Biden, even among his own party, the ever-optimistic 81-year-old painted a sunny picture of his prospects. He told the audience, “Every single crisis we’ve ever, ever, ever been in we’ve come out stronger.” Well, that’s one way to look at it, I suppose.
But let’s not forget about that devastating report on Biden’s handling of classified documents which called into question his mental acuity. In response to this, the White House has been working overtime to present Biden as a steady, engaged leader who hasn’t diminished with age. Yet, in a recent press conference, Biden managed to confuse the names of world leaders he has spoken with, some of whom are no longer with us.
To top it off, when a reporter asked about claims that his memory is poor, Biden retorted, “My memory is so bad that I let you speak.” Now, that’s a comeback… or is it?
In conclusion, Biden’s appearance on ‘Late Night’ was anything but smooth. It was filled with gaffes, missteps, and ironic statements that left many questioning his leadership. But hey, in the world of politics, anything can happen. Stay tuned for the next episode of ‘As the Political World Turns’.
