In a fiery showdown on live TV, GOP Congresswoman Nancy Mace (R-SC) took on host George Stephanopoulos, flipping the script after he grilled her on her backing of former President Donald Trump. Mace called out Stephanopoulos for trying to shame her over her political stances in a segment that quickly got intense.
Stephanopoulos thought he could corner Mace over her support for Trump. Stephanopoulos, in all his infinite wisdom, asked Mace about her endorsement of Trump despite these allegations. Mace shot back, “And I answered it. You’re shaming me for my political choices.” A zinger, if I ever heard one.
The conversation took a heated turn when Stephanopoulos brought up the civil court’s findings against Trump. Mace, however, was quick to distinguish between civil and criminal court outcomes and pointed out E. Jean Carroll’s distasteful joke about the judgment money.
As Stephanopoulos continued his attempts at shaming Mace, she revealed her personal experience as a rape victim, accusing him of trying to shame her yet again. “But as a rape victim who’s been shamed for years now because of her rape, you’re trying to shame me again by asking me this political question,” Mace said. Talk about turning the tables!
Mace defended her support for Trump by mentioning the support from key figures and families, including Laken Riley’s family at a Trump rally. She accused Stephanopoulos of shaming her throughout the exchange, framing the conversation as an attack on her character and political decisions.
Trump, on his part, has consistently denied Carroll’s claims and is appealing the verdict. Despite the lawsuit, Mace maintains her support for Trump. Stephanopoulos, stuck on repeat, kept questioning her about her political stance. “You can repeat that again and again and again and again,” Stephanopoulos retorted. “I’ve done nothing to shame you.”
The irony of Stephanopoulos’ statements is palpable. Carroll herself has admitted to doing ‘anything she can’ to support Biden’s efforts to beat Trump, which raises questions about her motives.
Mace showed us that she’s not one to be pushed around. She stood her ground, defended her choices, and gave Stephanopoulos a run for his money.
