WATCH: Jen Psaki Has Melt Down After Being Compared to Republican

Recently, Jen Psaki, the former White House press secretary turned MSNBC host, found herself in hot water, and not the kind for making tea. The reason? She was compared to Ronna McDaniel, the former Republican National Committee chairwoman, and oh boy, did that comparison not sit well with her.

MSNBC, a network that’s no stranger to controversy, decided to bring Psaki on board, presumably for her “honesty” and “good faith.” At least, that’s what Psaki would have us believe. She took to the airwaves, vehemently distinguishing her hiring from NBC’s backpedaling on McDaniel, insinuating she’s the beacon of truth in a sea of misinformation. In her spirited defense, Psaki dropped the “our democracy is in danger” and “our institutions are under attack” lines, as if we haven’t heard those before, right?

Psaki didn’t stop at defending her new gig. She went full throttle, accusing McDaniel and, by extension, the “right-wing ecosystem,” of pushing lies on the country. Citing Liz Cheney, she made a plea for bipartisan outrage against the supposed threat to democracy. It’s all very dramatic, with Psaki painting herself as the hero in a narrative where truth battles lies, and service to the country trumps loyalty to one man.

Now, let’s not forget Psaki’s track record at MSNBC, which, let’s just say, isn’t spotless. From snorting at the new House Speaker Mike Johnson’s claim that his election was an act of God (because humility is so overrated, right?) to labeling him a “Christian fundamentalist” (because having strong beliefs is apparently scary now), Psaki has certainly made waves. And who could overlook her claim that “no one” in her party supports abortion up until birth, a statement that had people rolling their eyes so hard, they almost got stuck.

But here’s the kicker: while Psaki points fingers and claims moral high ground, MSNBC continues its tradition of stirring moral panic, with hosts suggesting all sorts of dystopian futures if certain politicians are reelected. Talk about fearmongering.
