Joe Biden Might Be Left Off the General Election Ballot in Key State!

Well, would you look at that? It seems Joe Biden might be hitting a bit of a snag in Ohio, and it’s not just because he forgot to pack his Buckeye charm. Oh no, this time, it’s about something a tad more technical, yet equally forehead-smacking. According to the sharp eyes over at ABC News, there’s a bit of a pickle brewing with getting Biden’s name on the Ohio general ballot. And let me tell you, it’s the kind of drama you can’t make up even if you tried.

The state’s Secretary of State’s office, led by none other than Frank LaRose, dropped a bit of a bombshell on the Ohio Democratic Chair Liz Walters. It turns out there’s an “apparent conflict in Ohio law” regarding the timing of when the Democratic National Committee plans to throw its grand old party (also known as the Democratic National Convention) and when they need to have their presidential nominee’s name handed in with a bow on top to Ohio. The DNC has their shindig penciled in for August 19, but Ohio law’s tapping its watch, pointing out that the deadline is August 7. Oops.

Paul Disantis, the legal counsel with the kind of eagle eye you’d want on your side, penned a letter saying, in not so many words, “Hey, we’ve got a problem here.” He’s essentially put the ball in the DNC’s court, suggesting they either hustle up their convention or get Ohio’s General Assembly to play ball and tweak the law by May 9, 2024. Talk about being stuck between a rock and a hard place, right?

But let’s not gloss over the delicious irony here. Ohio, once a fierce battleground state that could swing either way like a pendulum, seems to have found a cozy spot in the Republican camp, giving former President Donald Trump an eight-point bear hug in both 2016 and 2020. So, you’ve got to wonder, is this ballot brouhaha just a minor hiccup or a sign of a bigger storm brewing?

Politics never fails to entertain, especially when deadlines and laws do-si-do around each other like awkward teenagers at a school dance. Will the DNC quickstep their way out of this one, or will Ohio’s General Assembly come to the rescue?
