Democrat Congressman Eric Swalwell went on quite the rant during a House Judiciary Committee hearing, all because of some memes featuring President Trump hugging ducks and kittens.
These memes came about due to folks’ frustrations with the Biden-Harris administration’s handling of the border crisis, particularly in small towns like Springfield, Ohio. The images showed Trump as a protector of America’s animals, while taking a dig at the chaos caused by open-border policies.
The Judiciary Committee was actually there to discuss the serious issue of how the Biden administration has failed to secure the southern border. This crisis has hit small American towns hard, leaving many worried and overwhelmed.
Things in Springfield got especially bad when residents accused Haitian migrants of committing some shocking acts, including killing ducks and even cats for food. Locals shared horrifying stories of seeing immigrants “grabbing ducks by the neck and decapitating them,” and a disturbing report about a cat being hung from a tree and carved up.
These troubling stories led to a flood of online memes that poked fun at the Biden-Harris administration’s failure to protect not only Americans but also the country’s animals. The House Judiciary Committee even joined in, tweeting, “Protect our ducks and kittens in Ohio!” along with a picture of Trump hugging the animals.
Instead of focusing on the border crisis, Congressman Swalwell lost his cool over the memes.
In a heated moment, he scolded the committee chairman for “going down some crazy rabbit hole” and posting about “aliens eating pets.” Swalwell shouted, “What in the hell is this? The chairman tweets, ‘Protect our ducks and kittens in Ohio,’ because he goes down some crazy rabbit hole, completely debunked, that aliens are eating pets? My God, are you okay, Mr. Chairman?”
Swalwell went on to accuse the chairman of tweeting nonsense while serious issues were being discussed. He even brought up past tweets about Kanye West, questioning the chairman’s judgment. Clearly, Swalwell was far more upset over the memes than the real problems happening in Springfield, Ohio.
