Kaitlan Collins Gets Schooled by Trump After Pushing ‘Ridiculous’ Plane Crash Question

President Trump doesn’t do softball interviews, and he certainly wasn’t about to let CNN’s Kaitlan Collins get away with another one of her typical gotcha questions during his White House briefing on the tragic midair collision at Reagan National Airport. When Collins tried to paint Trump’s comments as premature or inappropriate, the president swiftly shut her down, calling it “not a very smart question” and reminding her why he’s still the dominant force in American politics.

The collision between an American Airlines regional jet and a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter killed all 67 people on board, making it the worst air disaster in the U.S. since 2001. Naturally, the media wanted to spin the tragedy into an anti-Trump narrative, but Trump wasn’t playing their game.

Collins, clearly trying to provoke a reaction, accused Trump of “getting ahead of the investigation” by linking the crash to Democrat policies, DEI initiatives, and the broader failures of the air traffic control system. But Trump, as usual, wasn’t having any of it.

“No, I don’t think so at all,” he shot back. “I don’t think with the names of the people—you mean the names of the people that are on the plane—you think that’s going to make a difference? They are a group of people that have lost their lives. If you want a list of the names, we can give you that. We’ll be giving that very soon.”

And then, just to twist the knife a little, Trump added, “I think that’s not a very smart question. I’m surprised coming from you.” Ouch.

But here’s the thing—Trump was right. This crash didn’t happen in a vacuum. For years, the FAA and air traffic control systems have been plagued by mismanagement, lowering of standards, and an obsession with DEI instead of competence. Trump reminded everyone that during his administration, he had raised the standards for air traffic controllers, requiring only the best and brightest to handle such a critical job. Then Biden came in and, predictably, lowered them again.

And of course, Trump took aim at Pete Buttigieg, Biden’s train-wreck of a Transportation Secretary. “He was a disaster. He was a disaster as a mayor, he ran his city into the ground, and he’s a disaster now. He’s just got a good line of bullsh*t.” Classic Trump. And 100% accurate.

This isn’t about scoring political points. It’s about ensuring that tragedies like this don’t happen again. Trump gets it, the American people get it, and no amount of CNN spin is going to change that.
