It looks like the days of Democrat sanctuary city officials thumbing their noses at federal immigration law are coming to an end — fast. Border Czar Tom Homan is making it crystal clear: if you harbor, shield, or obstruct justice to protect illegal aliens, expect to face criminal charges. And he’s not just talking tough — he’s already taking action.
In an interview Thursday, Homan dropped the hammer, confirming that more arrests are on the horizon after two judges — yes, judges — were recently taken into custody for harboring illegal aliens. These aren’t nobodies; one is a former New Mexico judge, and the other is Milwaukee County Judge Hannah Dugan. This isn’t symbolic. It’s a warning shot — and it’s backed by law.
According to federal statute 8 U.S. Code § 1324, it is a felony to conceal, harbor, or shield an illegal alien. And the law isn’t ambiguous. If your “sanctuary policy” ends up protecting someone who goes on to hurt an American citizen, you’re looking at enhanced penalties — and possibly serious prison time.
Democrat officials should pay close attention. Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers just put his own name on the radar by sending out a memo on April 18 instructing state agencies on how to obstruct ICE agents — telling government workers how to avoid cooperating with federal deportation efforts. That’s not just irresponsible. That’s potentially criminal.
Asked about this memo, Homan didn’t flinch. “Wait until you see what’s coming,” he said — twice. He reiterated that while supporting sanctuary policies might be a misguided political choice, actively impeding federal law enforcement or harboring illegal aliens will be treated as a felony.
This all comes as President Trump doubles down on border enforcement, including the possibility of suspending the writ of habeas corpus for illegal aliens in order to bypass activist judges who are sabotaging deportation orders. The message from the White House is loud and clear: this administration is done playing defense.
And with Pam Bondi at the DOJ — someone who isn’t afraid to enforce the law — sanctuary officials from California to New York to Wisconsin better lawyer up. Tom Homan promised action. The first two arrests are already in the books. Now it’s just a matter of watching the dominoes fall.
