Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent SLAMS Elon Musk Over Plot to Undermine GOP with New Party!

Elon Musk sure knows how to stir the pot, doesn’t he? The world’s richest man apparently woke up on the Fourth of July, looked around at the chaos of the political scene, and thought, “You know what America needs? Another political party.” So, Musk took to X (formerly Twitter, for those still catching up) to announce his shiny new political venture, the so-called “America Party.”

Now, Musk claims this isn’t about left or right, Republican or Democrat. No, no, this is for the mythical “80% in the middle” that apparently feels abandoned by both sides. Funny how every billionaire who suddenly decides to play politician always imagines there’s a massive, unspoken moderate majority just waiting for their leadership. It’s like some kind of Silicon Valley fever dream.

The reality? Well, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent was more than happy to pour some cold water on Musk’s big Independence Day stunt during an interview with CNN’s Dana Bash. When asked if Musk’s political party worries the Trump Administration, Bessent didn’t even flinch. His response was pretty simple: Musk might be a genius in the boardroom, but when it comes to politics, he’s playing in the kiddie pool.

Bessent pointed out that Musk’s popularity doesn’t exactly extend beyond his tech cult following. Sure, the principles of DOGE and the crypto crowd get clicks, but when it comes to actual leadership and influence? Not so much. Bessent also made the sharp observation that Musk’s own corporate boards probably aren’t thrilled with their CEO moonlighting as a political disruptor instead of, you know, running the companies they hired him to lead.

And it looks like the market agrees. Azoria, a major investment firm, was all set to launch the Tesla Convexity ETF next week. This would have given investors a chance to cash in on Tesla’s growth, but thanks to Musk’s political ambitions, Azoria pulled the plug. Nothing says confidence like investors walking away the minute you try to play president.

What’s really at stake here is pretty obvious. Musk’s flirtation with third-party politics threatens to split the conservative vote, just like we saw in Michigan and Wisconsin last cycle. Translation? More victories for the Democrats, more gridlock, and more headaches for President Trump’s team.

So, Elon, maybe stick to rockets and electric cars. America’s political system is messy enough without you making it your latest pet project.
