Here we go again, another rogue federal judge sticking her nose where it doesn’t belong, and once again it’s all about protecting illegal aliens at the expense of American sovereignty and security. This time, the target is Florida’s Alligator Alcatraz detention facility, a key part of the state’s effort to get serious about illegal immigration.
Judge Kathleen Williams, an Obama appointee (of course), just issued a ruling that amounts to a slow-motion shutdown of the facility. She’s barred any new detainees from being brought in, halted all expansion, and ordered critical utilities like lighting, gas, and sewage to be dismantled within 60 days. Because nothing says “justice” like shutting down a detention center over light pollution.
The judge is claiming this is all about “environmental concerns” and the impact on the Everglades. Apparently, locking up repeat border crossers and criminals is now bad for the frogs and grass. Never mind the fact that the facility is trying to solve a very real crisis by detaining people who broke our laws. Judge Williams ruled that the facility failed to comply with the National Environmental Policy Act and sided with environmentalists and the Miccosukee Tribe, who argued the center posed a threat to the land and water in the region.
The result? No more detainees can be added. No new lighting or fencing. And soon, no functioning utilities. It’s hard to call it a detention center when you can’t house anyone and have to take the plumbing out. The judge claims it’s “still operational,” but anyone with common sense can see this is just bureaucratic sabotage.
Let’s be clear. This facility is the first of its kind. A state-run immigration detention center operated under an agreement between Florida and the federal government. It’s been targeted by lawsuits from day one because it dares to enforce immigration law seriously. Now the Left is using environmental law as a blunt weapon to shut it down. Classic playbook.
Fortunately, the Trump administration is appealing this ruling. Governor DeSantis has also pushed back, noting that Florida has every right to participate in immigration enforcement under agreements with the federal government.
This judge’s ruling is a disaster. It undermines border security, mocks state sovereignty, and sends the message that protecting salamanders is more important than protecting citizens. Enough is enough. This nonsense needs to be overturned, and Alligator Alcatraz needs to stay open for business.
