WATCH: Tom Homan Debunks Claims That Admin Is ‘Backing Off’ Deportations

White House border czar Tom Homan made it crystal clear this weekend that reports of the Trump Administration “backing off” mass deportations are pure fantasy. The rumors popped up after days of leftist unrest in Minneapolis, sparked by the shooting of anti ICE agitator Alex Pretti, who was shot while attacking federal agents and attempting to reach for a handgun. Predictably, activists tried to spin the chaos into leverage, claiming the administration was retreating. Homan was not amused.

The unrest dragged on until Minnesota Governor Tim Walz finally called President Trump and agreed to deploy local law enforcement to help secure federal facilities and restore order. Both sides described the call as productive. President Trump noted that some federal assets would be redeployed now that local police were stepping up and added that the administration would “de escalate” slightly to reduce tensions. That word sent the usual commentators into a frenzy.

Enter Tom Homan.

Speaking with Sean Hannity on Fox News, Homan shut the narrative down fast. “If anybody thinks that Tom Homan, if President Trump, isn’t serious about immigration enforcement and having a mass deportation, then they weren’t paying attention,” he said. He followed up by calling claims that President Trump is backing off “just untrue.”

Homan did not speak in abstractions. He brought numbers. According to his recent statements, the administration has already carried out more than 700,000 deportations, with plans to accelerate. “If you’re here illegally, you’re not off the table,” he said bluntly. “We’ll find you too. We’ll deport you too.” That kind of clarity is exactly what the base expected and exactly what activists hoped to derail.

Homan also pointed to immigration court data showing that nearly nine out of ten recent arrivals ultimately receive removal orders due to asylum fraud. That reality undercuts the narrative that enforcement targets innocent victims while criminals roam free. It also explains why the administration is expanding capacity instead of slowing down.

Federal agencies like U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and U.S. Customs and Border Protection have ramped up operations thanks to a massive hiring surge. That surge was made possible by the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, signed into law by President Trump last July. The legislation allocated $8 billion specifically for ICE hiring, with a goal of adding 10,000 new agents in one year.

The response from the public was overwhelming. ICE received more than 220,000 applications, allowing the agency to onboard roughly 12,000 new hires in under six months. Those agents are now hitting the field, expanding targeted arrests in cities across the country.

The message from the White House is simple. Tactical adjustments to reduce riots do not equal surrender. President Trump is still all in. Tom Homan is still running point. And the mass deportation agenda is not slowing down just because activists light a few dumpsters on fire.
