Border Czar Tom Homan Destroys Heckler at TPUSA Event

Tom Homan is not exactly the kind of guy you want to pick a fight with, especially if your biggest act of bravery is yelling from the back row of a college auditorium. But that is exactly what happened at a TPUSA event at the University of Texas at El Paso, where the former Border Czar gave a talk about the Trump Administration’s border policies. Naturally, this was too much for one loudmouthed liberal in the crowd, who tried to score points by shouting insults. It did not end well for him.

Homan was talking about something the left usually pretends he is incapable of, basic humanity. As he put it, “Every night before I go to bed, I pray for the safety and security of every ICE agent and I pray for everybody who we’re looking for. I don’t want anybody to die, that includes officers and that includes aliens. And that’s a stone cold fact!” The audience applauded, probably because they understood what compassion actually looks like, which is more than you can say for the heckler.

Right on cue, this guy tried to look tough by yelling from the shadows. The New York Post noted that he called Homan a “racist” before shouting “traitor!” Nothing impresses college activists these days like recycling the same two buzzwords they use for everyone who does not share their worldview. The crowd immediately booed, since most people can recognize cheap theatrics when they hear them.

Homan, to his credit, did not get flustered. He just fired back with the kind of line that shuts down an entire room. First he brushed off the insult, saying, “Call me what you want, I don’t care.” Then he followed it with the verbal equivalent of dropping a sandbag on the heckler’s ego. “You know, sir? I’ll take questions in a little bit. But why don’t you grow a backbone, put on a Kevlar vest, and gun on your hip and go secure this border!” The place erupted. Students cheered. And the heckler suddenly discovered the magical ability to stay quiet.

This is what happens when reality collides with bumper sticker activism. Homan has spent years dealing with dangerous criminals, drug smugglers, and cartel operations. Meanwhile, the heckler’s biggest accomplishment was shouting into a microphone he probably did not pay for. When confronted with an actual challenge, he folded.

If more campus activists heard responses like that, we might finally see a little maturity return to higher education. But for now, at least one heckler learned that picking a fight with someone who has actually done the hard work of protecting this country is not exactly a winning strategy.
