Travis Tritt dumps Anheuser-Busch from his tour after Bud Light’s partnership with Dylan Mulvaney.
Country music legend Travis Tritt has joined the growing backlash against Anheuser-Busch for its controversial decision to feature transgender activist Dylan Mulvaney in its latest Bud Light campaign. The singer announced on Twitter that he would be removing all Anheuser-Busch products from his tour hospitality rider, effective immediately.
“I will be deleting all Anheuser-Busch products from my tour hospitality rider. I know many other artists who are doing the same,” Tritt tweeted on Wednesday, “I know many other artists who are doing the same.”
Tritt, who has sold over 30 million albums and won two Grammy awards, is not the first celebrity to voice his displeasure with Anheuser-Busch. Earlier this week, rocker Kid Rock posted a video of himself shooting up cases of Bud Light with a rifle, while shouting profanities at the company.
If you haven’t already heard what all the outrage is about, it’s about Dylan Mulvaney, a TikTok star who identifies as a transgender woman. Mulvaney recently celebrated his “365 Days of Girlhood” milestone, marking one year since he started living as a woman. Bud Light sent him a special edition can along with other merchandise and a congratulatory message.
Mulvaney shared his excitement on Instagram, calling the Bud Light can her “most prized possession” and thanking the company for its support. She also posted a video of herself drinking a Bud Light in a bathtub, while wearing a crown and a sash. It’s quite disturbing.
Anheuser-Busch has not responded to the backlash or commented on Tritt’s boycott. The company has been known for its progressive stance on social issues, such as supporting LGBTQ+ rights, racial justice and environmental sustainability. However, this latest move seems to have backfired and cost them some loyal fans and customers.
Tritt is scheduled to perform next on April 14 in Hinton, Oklahoma. He said he would be replacing Anheuser-Busch products with other brands on his tour rider, and encouraged his followers to do the same.
