Elon Musk isn’t afraid to speak his mind, but even he admitted that exposing Washington’s corruption machine might come at a steep price. During his latest appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience, Musk revealed the extent of political graft in D.C. and suggested that calling it out could put his life in danger.
“I mean, this is really going to get me assassinated,” Musk said. “I’m not lengthening my lifespan by explaining this stuff.”
While half-joking, Musk made it clear that political elites do not take kindly to having their wealth-building schemes exposed. He and Rogan discussed how members of Congress somehow turn their modest $170,000-a-year salaries into multimillion-dollar fortunes, with Musk bluntly stating, “It’s literally impossible” for them to do so legally.
“I think maybe three-quarters of the graft is Democratic. I think there’s maybe 20–25% that’s Republican,” Musk stated, acknowledging that while corruption exists on both sides, the real power—and the real money—flows overwhelmingly to the left.
One of the most notorious examples of this Washington wealth machine is former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her husband, Paul Pelosi. The Pelosis have made a series of well-timed stock trades, including Paul Pelosi dumping $500,000 worth of Visa stock just before the Department of Justice filed an antitrust lawsuit against the financial giant—sending its stock price plummeting.
President Trump has called for Pelosi to be prosecuted, stating, “Nancy Pelosi sold vast amounts of Visa stock one day before the big lawsuit that we all read about a few days ago. She should be prosecuted… Nancy Pelosi should be prosecuted for that.”
The Visa deal is just one of many suspicious Pelosi transactions. In 2023, their portfolio saw a 65% return, far outpacing the S&P 500’s 24% gain—raising serious concerns about insider trading. Similarly, in 2022, Paul Pelosi bought over $1 million in Nvidia stock just before Congress passed massive subsidies for the chip industry. Later that year, he dumped 20,000 shares of Google stock—a month before the DOJ filed another antitrust lawsuit.
Beyond calling out corruption, Musk made a chilling admission—speaking out about it could get him killed.
“If I push too hard on the corruption stuff, people get desperate. That’s the issue,” Musk said, openly worrying about his safety.
Musk also announced that DOGE (Department of Government Ethics) would begin investigating how federal employees are amassing tens of millions of dollars on government salaries.
“They seem to be mysteriously getting wealthy, and we don’t know why. Where did it come from?” Musk asked.
It’s clear that Washington’s corruption isn’t just a problem—it’s the problem. And now, with Musk and others shining a spotlight on it, the real question is: will anything finally be done about it?
