Ex-Space Force Sergeant Gets Prison Time After Stopping Car Thief

In far-left Colorado, where criminals are coddled and law-abiding citizens are treated like enemies of the state, one American hero just had his life destroyed for daring to defend his property and his community.

Orest Schur, a 29-year-old veteran and former U.S. Space Force intelligence analyst, has been sentenced to a staggering 54 years in prison after he shot and killed a 14-year-old carjacker and wounded another teen during a chaotic attempted theft outside his Aurora home. The sentencing, handed down by Democrat-appointed Judge Caryn Datz of Adams County, is being hailed by the Left as “justice.”

Here are the facts: on July 5, 2023, Schur was woken around 11 p.m. by the sound of his car alarm. He ran outside and saw two masked individuals in all black trying to break into his Hyundai Elantra. Like any responsible citizen, Schur confronted the would-be thieves. They fled in a getaway car, and Schur gave chase. During the pursuit, Schur fired multiple shots at the fleeing suspects, who later crashed their vehicle into a backyard fence several blocks away. The teens tried to escape on foot, but Schur continued firing.

Fourteen-year-old Xavier Kirk was hit in the head and back. He later died at a nearby hospital. His accomplice, just 13, was shot in the back but survived.

Schur, who broke down in court and apologized, said he regretted the pain caused. That wasn’t enough for Judge Datz, who seemed more concerned with rehabilitating criminals than protecting citizens. She gave him more than five decades behind bars.

And yes, the usual suspects came out to play. The teen’s family called it “ludicrous” that Schur would try to stop someone from stealing his car , as if theft is now a protected activity. The surviving teen also wrote a letter, painting himself and his dead friend as victims of “injustice.”

Here’s what’s really ludicrous: a man goes to prison for defending his own property, while the media and the courts twist reality to protect criminals. Orest Schur is a casualty of a system that punishes strength and rewards lawlessness.

And it’s only going to get worse unless we change the system.
