President Trump is back to doing what he does best—trolling global leaders—and it’s sending Canada’s political elite into full meltdown mode. First, it was outgoing Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and now Jagmeet Singh, leader of Canada’s radical-left New Democratic Party (NDP) and a potential future prime minister, is the latest to take the bait. And boy, did he take it hard.
Singh, clearly rattled, posted an unhinged message on X (formerly Twitter) aimed directly at Trump. “I have a message for Donald Trump,” Singh declared. “Our country’s not for sale. Not now. Not ever.” Bold words for a guy leading a party that can barely keep itself together, let alone take on Trump.
But Singh wasn’t finished. He went on about how Canadians are “a proud people” and how they’re “ready to fight like hell to defend” their country. Really? Last time I checked, Canada wasn’t exactly gearing up for war. Singh even bragged about Canadian firefighters helping out during California’s wildfires—nice gesture, but let’s be honest, that’s not exactly a bargaining chip when it comes to dealing with Trump.
Then came the threat: “If you think you can pick a fight with us, there will be a price to pay!” Oh, please. Singh sounds like a kid on the playground shaking his fist at the school bully. The “price to pay” apparently involves retaliatory tariffs on America if Singh ever becomes prime minister. That’s right—Singh wants to hit back with tariffs. Because nothing says strength like slapping taxes on your own people to “own” Trump. Genius.
Singh even demanded that other Canadian political candidates follow his lead on these tariffs. Good luck with that. It’s unclear how Singh thinks he’s going to make Trump “bend the knee.” Canada doesn’t exactly have a military that’s going to keep Trump awake at night. This isn’t 1812, and Trump isn’t interested in marching on Ottawa.
This is classic Trump: a little trolling, and the left loses its mind. Singh’s rant is exactly the kind of reaction Trump lives for. While Trump focuses on securing America’s interests and strengthening the economy, Singh and Canada’s left are busy writing tough-guy posts on social media.
