Bruce Springsteen just learned the hard way that if you trash President Trump from across the Atlantic, you can expect the fire to come right back — and this time, Trump didn’t hold back.
While performing in the United Kingdom, Springsteen couldn’t resist turning his concert into a political soapbox, hurling his usual tired jabs at President Trump. What is it with left-wing celebrities who feel the need to bash America and its leaders while standing on foreign soil? Apparently, that’s what they call patriotism in Hollywood these days.
But President Trump wasn’t about to let “The Boss” get away with it.
“I see that Highly Overrated Bruce Springsteen goes to a Foreign Country to speak badly about the President of the United States,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Never liked him, never liked his music, or his Radical Left Politics and, importantly, he’s not a talented guy. Just a pushy, obnoxious JERK.”
Trump wasn’t done.
He reminded the world that Springsteen had thrown his full weight behind Joe Biden — a man Trump described, not inaccurately, as a “mentally incompetent FOOL” and “our WORST EVER President.” Trump added, “If I wasn’t elected, it would have been GONE by now!”
Then came the kicker: “Sleepy Joe didn’t have a clue as to what he was doing, but Springsteen is ‘dumb as a rock,’ and couldn’t see what was going on, or could he (which is even worse!)?”
Needless to say, Trump struck a nerve.
The American Federation of Musicians — a union that represents Springsteen, Taylor Swift, and countless others in the elite entertainment class — quickly jumped in with a statement of outrage, whining that the president’s criticism amounted to a personal attack. “Musicians have the right to freedom of expression,” they declared, as if that right doesn’t also extend to Trump.
This is the usual routine: celebrities like Springsteen and Swift attack Trump nonstop, then cry foul when he punches back harder. For a crowd that thrives on being “rebels,” they sure can’t handle a dose of political backlash.
Here’s a thought: maybe Bruce should stick to playing “Born to Run” instead of running his mouth. Because as Trump showed yet again, no one fires back with more precision than he does.
