Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar blew a gasket after President Trump unloaded on her and the Somali migrant community, and honestly, her reaction was about as predictable as sunrise. This all kicked off after reports surfaced about a staggering one billion dollar fraud scheme operating largely through the Somali community in Minnesota, a scandal that unfolded while Tim Walz was too busy polishing his national ambitions to notice what was happening under his nose. The GOP-led Oversight Committee is now piecing together just how something this massive was allowed to happen in the first place.
President Trump, never one to tiptoe around anything, said exactly what he thought about the situation and about the migrant influx that Minnesota’s political class has been cheering on for years. In classic Trump fashion, he didn’t sugarcoat a thing. “I don’t want them in our country. I’ll be honest with you, okay. Somebody will say, ‘Oh, that’s not politically correct.’ I don’t care. I don’t want them in our country. Their country is no good for a reason. Their country stinks, and we don’t want them in our country,” he said. You can practically hear consultants fainting in the background.
Trump then took direct aim at Ilhan Omar herself, along with the political scene that enabled her rise. “We keep taking in garbage to our country. Ilhan Omar is garbage. Her friends are garbage. These people come from hell, complain, and do nothing but bitch,” he said. And he didn’t stop there. “You know, if they came from paradise, and they said, ‘This isn’t paradise,’ but when they come from hell and they complain and do nothing but bitch, we don’t want them in our country. Let them go back to where they came from and fix it.”
Naturally, Omar ran to the cameras to deliver the usual greatest hits, acting like Trump had just invented criticism. “He’s always been racist, bigot, xenophobic, and Islamophobic. He called African nations ‘shithole,’” she said on MS NOW. Then she added, “He said he was going to stop Muslim immigration into this country.” She wrapped it up by framing the whole thing as some targeted campaign against black Muslim immigrants. “It’s not surprising he’s going after black immigrants, and it’s not surprising he’s choosing a black immigrant community that’s Muslim…”
Of course, she finished with a dramatic flourish, defiantly announcing, “We are going to be here regardless of what the president has to say!”
That much is clear. The real question is whether the people footing the bill for the mess in Minnesota are willing to keep pretending everything is fine just so politicians like Omar can keep shouting racism when their own backyard catches fire.
