Well, this is the kind of leadership we need! According to The Wall Street Journal, President Trump is set to sign an executive order as early as Thursday to abolish the Department of Education. Yes, you read that right—Abolish. Not reform. Not tweak. Shut it down. And frankly, it’s about 40 years overdue.
For decades, the Department of Education has been nothing but a bloated, bureaucratic disaster, funneling taxpayer money into the hands of woke activists and union bosses while America’s kids fall further behind in reading, math, and, well, basic common sense. What started as Jimmy Carter’s gift to the teachers’ unions in 1979 has turned into an unaccountable mess that pushes Critical Race Theory, radical gender ideology, and leftist indoctrination while failing spectacularly at, you know, actually educating children.
President Trump has been crystal clear on this issue. He’s vowed to take a wrecking ball to federal overreach in education and put the power back where it belongs—with parents and local communities. “On Day 1, I will sign a new executive order to cut federal funding for any school pushing critical race theory, transgender insanity, and other inappropriate racial, sexual, or political content onto the shoulders of our children,” Trump has said. And that’s exactly what he’s doing. No more blank checks for leftist indoctrination.
His plan? Strip the department down to its bare bones. “We’ll have one person plus a secretary,” Trump has said, explaining that their job would be simple—make sure schools are teaching the basics: reading, writing, and arithmetic. Oh, and making sure they aren’t pushing woke nonsense.
The timing is perfect. Earlier this week, the Senate confirmed Linda McMahon as the new Secretary of Education, and she’s exactly the kind of fighter we need. As the former Chair of the Board at the America First Policy Institute, she’s been working to expand school choice so parents can actually have a say in their child’s education—something the left absolutely hates because it threatens their iron grip on the system.
And now, Trump is directing McMahon to pull the plug on the entire department. A draft of the order viewed by The Wall Street Journal makes it clear: she’s to “take all necessary steps to facilitate the closure of the Education Department” to the “maximum extent appropriate and permitted by law.” In other words, pack it up, shut it down, and let the states handle education the way the Founders intended.
This is a game-changer. It’s the end of an era of federal control over education, and the beginning of real accountability. And you know what? It’s about time.
