You truly can’t make this stuff up. Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker, a man who has spent the better part of the last decade labeling President Trump and Republicans as “fascists,” “Nazis,” and “threats to democracy,” is now whining because Democrats are being called fascists. The hypocrisy is almost impressive.
In a recent public statement, Pritzker launched into one of his usual rants about the supposed dangers of Donald Trump and his supporters. But this time, he had the audacity to complain that Trump’s team is attacking Democrats by calling them fascists. According to Pritzker, that’s a step too far. Why? Because now it’s an “attack on the Constitution.”
Here’s the actual quote, straight from a transcript shared by the Trump campaign:
“For Donald Trump and the MAGAs in Congress, this is not about fighting crime or about public safety. This is about sowing fear and intimidation and division among Americans… When you add to that the Trump administration’s effort to label as dangerous free speech critical of him…White House senior staff calling the Democratic Party fascist… you cannot call this anything except an attack on the Constitution.”
Seriously?
This is the same Democratic Party that called parents at school board meetings “domestic terrorists.” The same crowd that compared Trump rallies to 1930s Germany. The same media-political machine that smeared ICE agents as Nazis and Border Patrol officers as racist thugs. But now that the heat’s being turned on them, suddenly it’s “divisive”?
It’s laughable.
David Strom at Hot Air put it well — Pritzker somehow keeps showing up on lists of potential Democrat presidential candidates, despite being far out of touch on nearly every issue that matters to regular Americans. He’s extreme on immigration, gender politics, crime, and health care. But he still acts shocked when people call out the authoritarian streak in his party’s policies.
Let’s be clear: when you try to censor dissent, push for government control over speech, criminalize political opposition, and weaponize law enforcement against your enemies — you don’t get to cry foul when someone uses your own language against you.
If Pritzker doesn’t want Democrats being called fascists, maybe he should stop acting like one.
