Looks like the Biden-era free-for-all at the border is officially over. President Trump’s newly appointed Border Czar, Tom Homan, has confirmed that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is ready to hit the ground running with a nationwide operation targeting illegal immigrants in so-called “sanctuary cities” like Chicago and New York. However, thanks to yet another leak from within the government, those plans might be put on hold—at least temporarily.
On Friday, reports surfaced that ICE was gearing up for a “big f–king operation” (their words, not ours) set to launch just one day after Trump’s inauguration. According to The Wall Street Journal, over 200 ICE agents were being deployed to Chicago alone, with similar efforts planned across the country. Naturally, the usual suspects in the media wasted no time blowing the whistle, potentially compromising the operation and putting law enforcement at risk.
Homan, never one to mince words, confirmed the report during an appearance on Fox News, stating, “It’s going to be a big raid all across the country.” He made it crystal clear that under Trump, ICE is finally getting back to work, saying, “We’re going to take the handcuffs off ICE and let them go arrest criminal aliens.” That’s right, the days of sitting back and watching illegal immigration spiral out of control are over.
The focus, according to Homan, will be on the “worst of the worst” — meaning criminals and national security threats — but he didn’t sugarcoat the fact that no one is off the table. “If they’re in the country illegally, they got a problem,” Homan stated. And honestly, it’s about time.
However, thanks to the media leaks, the operation may now face delays. Homan expressed frustration over the leak, telling The Washington Post that it puts officers at “great risk” and that ICE is now reviewing its plans. “It’s unfortunate because anyone leaking law enforcement operations puts officers at great risk,” he said. Homan also dismissed the idea that Chicago was the sole focus, reiterating that enforcement will be nationwide, not just in a few high-profile cities.
Despite the setback, Homan emphasized that ICE will still be hitting the ground running, targeting public safety and national security threats from day one—without the political handcuffs imposed by the previous administration.
Bottom line? The sanctuary city circus is coming to an end, and illegal immigrants who’ve been enjoying a free pass under Biden’s watch better take notice.
