Well, here we go again. Another so-called “scholar” from an elite university losing his mind over President Trump and publicly calling for a military coup. This time, it’s Peter Arenella, a long-tenured UCLA professor who seems to believe that democracy only works when his side wins. His Saturday night social media rant was nothing short of unhinged, openly calling for “violent resistance by our military” to stop Trump. That’s right—this guy, who teaches law at a major university, is openly advocating for a military overthrow of the duly elected President of the United States.
But hey, let’s talk about “threats to democracy,” right? The left and their media lapdogs love to screech about “democracy being in danger” whenever Trump is involved, but here we have a law professor calling for outright sedition, and what do we hear? Crickets. Imagine for a second if a conservative professor had posted anything remotely close to this about Joe Biden. The FBI would be knocking down his door before he could finish his morning coffee. But when it’s a leftist? No problem, just another day in academia.
Arenella, who teaches students about “moral agency” and “criminal law excuse theory” (whatever that means), clearly has no problem excusing his own criminally insane rhetoric. He’s out here saying that military intervention is the only way to stop Trump from “destroying our democracy.” First of all, our country is a constitutional republic, not a democracy—something you’d think a law professor would understand. Second, Trump was elected by the American people. If Arenella and his liberal friends can’t handle that, maybe they’re the ones who don’t believe in democracy.
This isn’t the first time Arenella has gone off the deep end with his anti-Trump obsession. He’s previously praised Biden for preemptively pardoning “heroes” like Fauci and the January 6th committee members, as if they were noble warriors instead of partisan bureaucrats. He’s also been busy trying to radicalize young people, openly encouraging students to protest Trump’s inauguration. So much for the left’s supposed fear of “political extremism.”
The bigger issue here is how completely insane and dangerous the left has become. It’s no longer just about disagreeing with Trump’s policies—it’s about silencing his supporters, undermining elections, and, apparently, encouraging military coups. These people don’t care about the Constitution, the rule of law, or the will of the American people. They just want power, and they’ll do whatever it takes to keep it.
The question now is: will UCLA do anything about this lunatic’s threats? Or will they continue to allow radical leftists to spew actual insurrectionist rhetoric while pretending Trump is the real danger? We all know the answer.
