Former First Lady Melania Trump isn’t holding back when it comes to discussing how little help she received from the Obamas during her transition into the White House in 2017. In a recent interview with Fox News, Melania reflected on how much easier this upcoming term will be because, as she put it, “The difference is I know where I will be going.”
Melania didn’t sugarcoat the challenges she faced during her first transition into the role of First Lady. “The first time was challenging. We didn’t have much of the information,” she admitted. “The information was [withheld] from us from the previous administration… So it’s a very different transition this time around.”
That’s a pretty clear swipe at Barack and Michelle Obama, who seemingly couldn’t be bothered to provide a warm or even professional handoff. For all the talk from Democrats about “unity” and “grace,” it sounds like the Obamas left the Trumps to figure it out on their own.
And it looks like history is repeating itself. Michelle Obama has already made it clear she won’t be attending President Trump’s second inauguration on January 20th, breaking from the traditional show of unity. According to reports, Michelle told allies she refuses to “be fake” by participating in Trump’s return to the White House. Meanwhile, Barack Obama will be in attendance, as he was in 2017.
Funny how Michelle preaches about women supporting women but can’t even manage basic decency toward another First Lady. Her absence says more than any speech ever could.
When asked if the Biden family has been more helpful this time around, Melania skillfully dodged the question and focused instead on the enormous amount of planning required for Inauguration Day. She made it clear that her priorities are in order: “I will be in the White House, and when I need to be in New York, I will be in New York. When I need to be in Palm Beach, I will be in Palm Beach. But my first priority is to be a mom, to be a First Lady, to be a wife, and once we are in on January 20, you serve the country.”
Melania is focused on the future, promising an “exciting four years” ahead with plenty of work to “put the country back in shape.” While the Obamas and other Democrats stew in bitterness, Melania Trump is ready to lead with class and purpose.
