NBC’s Kristen Welker’s Attempt to Corner Trump Over FBI Director Firing Backfires Spectacularly

President Trump sat down with NBC’s Kristen Welker for a one-on-one interview, and as expected, Welker attempted a ‘gotcha’ moment over Trump’s plans to replace current FBI Director Christopher Wray with Kash Patel. But Trump, staying true to form, wasn’t having any of it.

Welker’s question came after Trump officially announced last month that Kash Patel would be his nominee for FBI Director in his next administration. Patel, a former terrorism prosecutor and top Trump official, is known for exposing the Russiagate hoax and his high-level work in the intelligence and defense sectors. His nomination has sent the Deep State and left-wing media into a frenzy, fearing what Patel might uncover as the country’s top law enforcement officer.

During the interview, Welker asked, “Are you going to fire the current FBI Director Christopher Wray who you appointed?” Trump didn’t take the bait. “Well, I can’t say I’m thrilled with him. He invaded my home. I’m suing the country over it. He invaded Mar-a-Lago. I’m very unhappy with the things he’s done and crime is at an all-time high,” Trump replied.

The former president made it clear that Wray’s handling of the FBI hasn’t met his expectations. Trump also referenced the FBI’s downplaying of the recent assassination attempt on his life. “And then when I was shot in the ear, [Wray] said oh maybe it was shrapnel…”

Welker pressed again, trying to pin Trump down on whether he would fire Wray. Trump’s response was direct but strategic: “It would sort of seem pretty obvious that if Kash Patel gets in, he’s going to be taking somebody’s place, right? That somebody is the man you’re talking about.”

Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) recently stated that Patel’s confirmation is assured, causing a meltdown among Democrats. Judiciary Chair Dick Durbin’s claim that Trump cannot replace Wray until his term ends in 2027 is simply false. The FBI Director serves at the pleasure of the president, and Trump has every right to dismiss Wray if he sees fit.

The left’s hysteria over Kash Patel’s nomination reveals their fear of real accountability within the FBI. Patel’s track record of exposing corruption has them worried about what he might uncover. As Trump prepares to take office, the media’s manufactured scandal over Wray’s firing is just another desperate attempt to protect the status quo.

Trump’s handling of Welker’s question shows he’s ready to clean house—and the Deep State knows it.
