Ouch! Founder of DeSantis Super PAC Destroys the Florida Governor – Then Backs Trump

In a shocking turn of events that’s left conservative circles reeling, the founder of the DeSantis Super PAC, John Thomas, has delivered a scathing critique of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. Thomas condemned DeSantis during an appearance on News Nation, stating that DeSantis lacks the qualities needed in a viable candidate – charm, charisma, discipline, and likeability.

Thomas, who initially rallied behind DeSantis and encouraged him to run for president, admitted that DeSantis’ campaign had been a “failure to launch” and that he has not recovered since. Despite being a successful governor, Thomas believes DeSantis is not ready for the national stage and lacks the capability to defeat Joe Biden.

In contrast, Thomas lauded Donald Trump’s campaign strategy, stating that Trump, despite his legal challenges, has conducted a near-flawless campaign with strategic ad spends against his opponent, DeSantis. He praised Trump’s messaging choices, which he believes were absent in 2016 and 2020.

In a dramatic twist, Thomas and his team reversed their support from DeSantis to Trump, believing that not only will Trump be the nominee but also the best person to beat Biden in the general elections.

Looking back, Thomas conceded that backing DeSantis was a miscalculation, adding that the skills that make someone suitable for one office do not necessarily translate well to another. He highlighted the importance of retail politicking, charisma, and charm, disciplines in which DeSantis has failed to shine.

Thomas also criticized DeSantis’ decision to launch on Twitter spaces without a simulcast video stream for news television stations to cover, labelling it as a “brutal” mistake.

Thomas’ blistering critique suggests that DeSantis’ political career may be on shaky ground. While there might be a chance for him to bounce back in 2028, it will undoubtedly be an uphill battle. This episode serves as a stark reminder that the political landscape is unpredictable and that the emergence of Trump, as Tucker Carlson stated, is the “most significant thing” in US politics “in 100 years.”
