SHOCKING: ICE Catches Illegal Immigrant Working as a Police Officer in Blue State

Well, if you were wondering how far down the rabbit hole we’ve fallen under Biden’s open-border circus, look no further than Old Orchard Beach, Maine. That’s where U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement just arrested a Jamaican national, Jon Luke Evans, who was—brace yourself—working as a police officer despite being in the country illegally. An illegal immigrant, supposedly enforcing the law, was arrested for breaking the law.

Evans reportedly overstayed his visa after entering the U.S. in 2023 under the Biden administration. The kicker? He had just been hired by the local police department as a seasonal officer. Not only was he given a badge and authority, but he tried to buy a firearm for his new job. That’s when things started to unravel.

When Evans filled out his firearm application on July 25, federal authorities noticed something didn’t add up with his immigration status. That little flag led ICE and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives straight to him. According to ICE, Evans admitted he was trying to buy the weapon for his day job—because nothing screams “trustworthy law enforcement” like a visa overstay playing cop.

So how did this happen? Great question. The Old Orchard Beach Police Department swears up and down that they ran Evans through E-Verify and did a full background check. Supposedly, the Employment Authorization Document he presented showed he was clear to work in the U.S. through March 2030. Oops. Looks like Homeland Security’s vaunted E-Verify system has more holes than a slice of Swiss cheese.

Police Chief Elise Chard tried to pass the blame, saying they relied on DHS and did everything by the book. But here’s the problem: we’re letting non-citizens with temporary work papers become law enforcement officers in several states, including Maine. That policy is a disaster waiting to happen. In fact, this is the second time in a year that ICE has caught an illegal immigrant working in Maine’s law enforcement. Last time, it was a corrections officer in Falmouth. What’s next? An illegal immigrant leading the State Troopers?

This isn’t just a bureaucratic flub—it’s a direct result of Biden’s reckless immigration policies. We have a system so broken that a person who shouldn’t even be here can wind up enforcing the laws the rest of us are expected to follow.

How many more security risks have to slip through the cracks before Democrats wake up and get on board with enforcing our borders again?
