Parents across America are increasingly fed up with what they see as blatant indoctrination in the classroom, from elementary schools to universities. More and more, it seems like our kids are being used as pawns in a political game, forced to parrot left-leaning narratives that leave no room for differing opinions. For parents hoping to send their kids to school for an actual education, it’s a slap in the face.
A recent viral video from the University of Kansas captured a shocking example of this trend. In the clip, a professor goes on a wild anti-Trump rant, telling his students that men who wouldn’t vote for Kamala Harris should be “lined up and shot.” Yes, you read that right. He explicitly stated, “We could line all those guys up and shoot them!” But just to add insult to injury, he tried to laugh it off afterward, saying, “Did I say that? Scratch that from the recording.”
This video understandably sparked outrage from parents and alumni alike. One parent, reacting on social media, said, “My son goes to school there. I’m seriously considering having him go to another college.” Another user, disappointed to see his alma mater turned into a political battlefield, declared that he would “encourage friends and family to rescind any gifts to the Endowment” until the university took action.
Sadly, this isn’t an isolated incident. Back in 2013, University of Kansas Professor David Guth faced major backlash for a tweet blaming the NRA for the Navy Yard shooting, going so far as to wish harm on the children of NRA members. He was placed on administrative leave after the uproar, but the incident left a lasting impression of just how far some educators are willing to go to push their agendas.
Parents and students deserve better. Classrooms should be places for open discussion and real learning, not soapboxes for ideological tirades. Parents who invest in their kids’ education have every right to expect their money will go toward quality instruction, not political propaganda. It’s no wonder people are reconsidering where to send their kids and withholding donations from universities that allow this kind of behavior.
The University of Kansas—and countless other institutions—need to take a long, hard look at the kind of environment they’re fostering. When professors openly call for violence against those who disagree, it’s a clear sign that things have gone too far. Parents and students should not have to tolerate this, and it’s time for universities to remember that they’re meant to educate, not indoctrinate.
