Well, buckle up folks, because it seems Trump’s vice-presidential lottery is in full swing. I’ve done some digging around and apparently, the former President has narrowed his VP shortlist down to three potential running mates. And let me tell you, it’s an interesting mix.
First up, we have Congresswoman Elise Stefanik. Now, she’s been a loyal Trump supporter, sticking by him through thick and thin. She was even the first sitting member of Congress to endorse him. And let’s not forget her talent for commanding the news cycle with issues that get Republicans all riled up.
Then we have Senator J.D. Vance. He’s been a staunch Trump defender in a Republican caucus that prefers to keep Trump at arm’s length. Vance’s populist views on immigration and foreign policy are right in line with Trump’s America First agenda. Even Donald Trump Jr. seems to be rooting for him. “I’d love to see a J.D. Vance,” Donald Trump Jr. recently told Newsmax. “People who are principally in alignment as well as aggressive.”
And last but certainly not least, we have Nikki Haley. Look, I know she’s trailing behind Trump in the polls and has even collected a fair share of anti-Trump folks in her corner. But remember, she served as Trump’s U.N. ambassador and could potentially reel in those moderate and swing voters, especially suburban women who can’t quite stomach supporting Trump.
But here’s the rub. Haley’s hawkish stance on foreign policy might not sit well with the MAGA crowd. Tucker Carlson certainly isn’t a fan. He’s even said he would actively advocate against a Trump-Haley ticket. Ouch. “I would not only not vote for that ticket, I would advocate against it as strongly as I could,” Tucker Carlson said at a recent event. “That’s just poison,” Carlson added, blasting Haley as “not left, but … neoliberal in the darkest, most … nihilistic way” and saying she “has no real popular support.”
So, there you have it. Stefanik, Vance, and Haley are officially in the running for Trump’s VP spot. Who will he choose? Only time will tell. But one thing’s for sure, this political rollercoaster is far from over. So, grab your popcorn and get ready for the ride.
