President Trump is done playing footsie with Democrat officials who would rather posture on cable news than enforce the law. In a lengthy Truth Social post, the president called out Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, and every Democrat governor and mayor in the country, demanding they formally cooperate with federal immigration enforcement instead of, as he put it, stoking “Division, Chaos, and Violence.”
Trump did not mince words. He blamed the current mess squarely on the four years of Joe Biden, writing that tens of millions of illegal alien criminals flooded into the country under Democrat leadership. According to Trump, voters responded by handing him a historic landslide victory and giving Republicans control of Congress, specifically because he promised to seal the border and launch the largest mass deportation of criminal illegals in American history.
That effort, Trump emphasized, is already underway. In Republican-run states like Texas, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, and Louisiana, ICE has arrested more than 150,000 criminal illegal aliens over the past year without riots, chaos, or nightly outrage segments on CNN. The reason, according to Trump, is painfully obvious. Local police in those states cooperate with federal authorities instead of sabotaging them.
By contrast, Trump accused Democrat-run sanctuary cities and states of outright obstruction. He said Democrat officials are refusing to cooperate with ICE and are effectively encouraging leftwing agitators to interfere with arrests of what he called the “worst of the worst.” In Trump’s telling, this behavior has created dangerous conditions for everyone involved, and he noted that two American citizens have already lost their lives as a result of what he called Democrat-induced chaos.
Trump followed up with a list of four specific demands. He called on Walz and Frey to turn over all criminal illegal aliens currently in state prisons and jails, as well as those with warrants or known criminal histories, for immediate deportation. He said local law enforcement must turn over all illegal aliens arrested by local police, assist federal agents in apprehending wanted suspects, and partner with the federal government to remove criminal illegals quickly. Trump even pointed out that some Democrats, including leaders in Memphis and Washington, D.C., have cooperated, resulting in safer streets.
He also urged Congress to immediately pass legislation ending sanctuary cities, calling them the root cause of the problem. American cities, Trump said, should be sanctuaries for law-abiding American citizens only.
This all comes amid heightened tensions following the death of Alex Pretti during an immigration enforcement operation in Minneapolis. Federal officials, including DHS Secretary Kristi Noem and Border Patrol commander Gregory Bovino, have suggested the rhetoric from Walz and Frey may have contributed to the confrontation. Investigations are ongoing, court orders are flying, and trust between state and federal authorities is clearly strained.
Trump’s message, however, is simple. Cooperate, enforce the law, and protect citizens, or keep resisting and own the consequences. The administration, he says, is waiting for Democrats to do the right thing.
