President Trump has officially endorsed someone for the next chair of the Republican National Committee. Trump has endorsed his North Carolina ally, Michael Whatley, to serve as the next chair of the RNC. And guess who he’s recommended as co-chair? None other than his daughter-in-law, Lara Trump.
Trump credits Whatley with helping him secure a victory in North Carolina during the 2020 campaign. Now, that’s what I call a good wingman. Trump seems to appreciate Whatley for being a “stop the steal guy,” whatever that means. Maybe it’s code for “loyal to the bone.”
Trump believes the RNC must be a good partner in the Presidential election and expects it to ensure fair and transparent elections across the country. That’s a noble goal, but let’s face it; transparency in politics is as rare as a unicorn. But hey, we can dream, right?
In his statement, Trump said, “For these reasons, I think my friend Michael Whatley should be the next leader of the RNC. He’s committed to election integrity, which we must have to keep fraud out of our elections so they can’t be stolen.” Now there’s a sentiment every American can get behind.
Trump also announced that his “very talented daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, has agreed to run as the RNC Co-Chair.” He went on to praise Lara as an extremely talented communicator dedicated to all that MAGA stands for. Well, isn’t that just the cherry on top of this political sundae?
This endorsement comes on the heels of current chair Ronna McDaniel announcing her departure from the role she’s held since 2017. So, the stage is set for a new era in the RNC.
However, the RNC is reportedly down to its lowest financial figure since 2014, with just $8 million on hand. It’s like watching a high-stakes poker game where the players are betting their last chips. But Trump continues to outpace Joe Biden in small-dollar fundraising, showing his hold over grassroots activists.
So, what does this all mean? Well, it seems like Trump isn’t done playing kingmaker. And with these endorsements, he’s making a clear statement: The Trump dynasty isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
