According to Axios, Tucker Carlson has hired lawyer Bryan Freedman for a contract dispute and may be trying to persuade Fox News to allow him to work for another outlet. Freedman has stated that the idea of Carlson’s voice being silenced is absurd.
According to the report, Fox may try to remove Carlson by paying him $20 million annually to not work, as he is allegedly planning to start his own media company. However, Fox would have to release him from his contract, which ends in January 2025, after the presidential election.
“Axios has learned that Carlson and Elon Musk had a conversation about working together, but didn’t discuss specifics,” the outlet reported.
According to Breitbart News, Fox announced in April that it was ending its professional relationship with Tucker Carlson, the former host of the popular show, Tucker Carlson Tonight. The news came as a surprise. Since Carlson’s departure, the network’s ratings during the 8pm hour have decreased significantly from an average of three million viewers to 1.65 million. This time slot was previously filled by Brian Kilmeade from Fox & Friends. Going forward, Lawrence Jones, a personality on Fox News, will be taking over the 8pm hour.
After leaving, Carlson posted a video in which he observed that most TV debates were “unbelievably stupid” and “completely irrelevant.”
“And yet at the same time, the undeniably big topics, the ones that will define our future, get virtually no discussion at all. War, civil liberties, emerging science, demographic change, corporate power, natural resources. When was the last time you heard a legitimate debate about any of those issues?” he asked:
“Debates like that are not permitted in American media,” he stated. However, Carlson closed his message on a hopeful note.
“When honest people say what’s true, calmly and without embarrassment, they become powerful,” he said, ending with, “See you soon.”
According to the news outlet, Matthew Boyle claimed in a recent interview on Newsmax that Fox’s attempt to mute Carlson was causing a decline in viewership.
“They’re not allowing him to go out there and do something else. They refuse to release him from the contract and negotiate an exit at this time. The Murdoch family is trying to keep him silent,” Boyle said, explaining that the globalist, establishment Murdoch family and their allies “were getting increasingly unnerved by the third rail topics that Tucker was regularly hitting on his show,” including topics such as the vaccine and aid to Ukraine.
According to Boyle, Carlson’s reporting on certain issues caused controversy, which Fox executives were uncomfortable with. They are now using the Dominion lawsuit settlement as a reason to regain control of the network.
“What’s happening is people are leaving Fox. They’re coming to places like Newsmax and Breitbart, which is great for us,” he explained.
Per the Axios article, a friend of Carlson’s reportedly said, “Now, we’re going from peacetime to Defcon 1. His team is preparing for war. He wants his freedom.”
