Democrats came prepared to ambush Robert F. Kennedy Jr. during his Senate confirmation hearing for Secretary of Health and Human Services—but it didn’t go as planned. While Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) and Senator Mark Warner (D-VA) tried (and failed) to smear RFK Jr., the real show came when Bernie Sanders (Socialist-VT) completely lost his composure in an embarrassing meltdown.
It all started when Sanders decided to bring props—a desperate attempt to “expose” RFK Jr. as an anti-vaxxer. The Vermont socialist held up two baby onesies from RFK Jr.’s former organization, the Children’s Health Defense Fund. One read “No Vax, No Problem”, and the other said “Unvaxxed, Unafraid”—hardly the smoking gun Bernie thought he had.
With all the self-righteous fury he could muster, Sanders demanded RFK Jr. disown the products.
“You have started a group called the Children’s Health Defense… Right now, they are selling these ‘onesies’ for babies,” Sanders ranted. “You have said before this committee you are pro-va–ine, and yet your organization is making money selling a child’s product to parents which casts fundamental doubt on the usefulness of va–ines!”
Then came the big “gotcha” moment:
“Can you tell us, since you are pro-va–ine, that you will have your organization take these products off the market?”
Unfortunately for Bernie, RFK Jr. was ready.
“Senator, I have no power over this organization,” Kennedy responded calmly. “I resigned from the board months ago.”
Boom. But Bernie, not one to let facts get in the way of a good temper tantrum, exploded.
“That was just a few months ago!” Sanders shouted. “You have the power; you can certainly (stop it)!”
RFK Jr. refused to take the bait, remaining cool under pressure. This only enraged Sanders further, leading to a full-blown meltdown.
“Are you supportive of this? Are you supportive of these onesies?” he bellowed. “Are you supportive of this clothing, which is militantly anti-va–ine?!”
At this point, it was pure comedy. Bernie Sanders, a U.S. Senator, screaming about baby onesies like they were a national security threat.
RFK Jr. didn’t just survive the Democrat smear machine—he humiliated them. If this is their best effort to derail his nomination, he’s as good as confirmed.
