Awkward Video of ‘Kindergartner’ Gavin Newsom Goes Viral

Social media is buzzing with a video of Gov. Gavin Newsom’s visit to New College of Florida where he appears to be uncomfortable. In the video, the governor is seen silently applauding while the faculty and students perform a religious song called “He’s Got The Whole World In His Hands.” Critics are commenting on the strange nature of the incident.

Christopher Rufo, a City Journal contributing writer and senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute, pointed out Governor Newsom’s behavior and physical gestures in the video, stating that it resembled the conduct of a young child in kindergarten.

“Gavin Newsom booked a room at a public library near New College of Florida, told the audience he was ‘crawling out of my skin for you guys,’ and clapped along to the music like a kindergartner at storytime,” Rufo tweeted, along with footage of Newsom.

“Serious Patrick Bateman vibes,” Rufo continued.

In a tweet, political podcaster James Lindsay remarked on Governor Newsom’s video, saying that the governor’s conduct was usual for him. Governor Newsom traveled to Florida and criticized Governor Ron DeSantis and other politicians for their policies that, he believes, have a negative impact on the American way of life.

Govern Newsom visited North Sarasota Public Library as part of his tour of Republican-led states, which he had prohibited official travel to for a week. During the visit, he interacted with a group of approximately 24 individuals that included students, faculty, and community members from New College. The purpose of the visit was in response to Governor DeSantis’ appointment of six conservative board members.
