GOP Lawmaker Reveals Who is Moving into Pelosi’s Hideaway Office in Capitol

The story surrounding the hideaway offices near the House floor takes another twist. Following Rep. Kevin McCarthy’s loss of the House speakership, House Speaker Pro Tempore Patrick McHenry sent a notification to Rep. Nancy Pelosi about her hideaway office. The message stated that the room would be re-keyed and advised Pelosi to remove her belongings immediately.

Shortly after, Rep. Steny Hoyer, another senior Democrat who maintained an office in the Capitol, received a similar message.

Pelosi’s Eviction and Republican Revenge

On Wednesday, Rep. Garret Graves unveiled the news that McCarthy would be assigned the hideaway office spaces. The office currently occupied by Pelosi is traditionally designated for the preceding speaker, which, in this case, is McCarthy. Democrats, however, have no one to blame but themselves for this situation, as they were the ones who determined that a new speaker was needed.

The “real-estate revenge” can be attributed to McCarthy, not McHenry, according to CNN special correspondent Jamie Gangel. McCarthy orchestrated the move that resulted in Pelosi and Hoyer losing their hideaway offices. Republicans are expressing their discontent not only with the eight GOP lawmakers who voted to oust McCarthy but also with the entire Democratic caucus for aligning with them.

Pelosi’s Complaint and Democratic Hypocrisy

Pelosi released a statement complaining that her eviction is a departure from tradition. However, Graves pointed out that the Democrats created this situation and should not be surprised by the consequences.

CNN’s Jamie Gangel reported that McCarthy was responsible for the “real-estate revenge” and that this move was entirely his decision. Republican sources reveal that McCarthy is on a “revenge tour” and that Patrick McHenry would not have taken this action on his own.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries is taking advantage of the turmoil to fundraise, blaming Republicans for the chaos and confusion in the People’s House. However, Jeffries fails to acknowledge that the chaos would not have been possible without the endorsement of the Democratic caucus.

The Fallout and Republican Frustration

Republicans are expressing their frustration not only with the Democrats who voted against McCarthy but also with the entire Democratic caucus. The eviction of Pelosi and Hoyer from their hideaway offices is seen as a direct result of the Democrats’ actions.

The move by McCarthy to take over Pelosi’s hideaway office is causing a stir in the political landscape. Democrats are finding themselves on the receiving end of a revenge plot that they inadvertently set in motion.
