In a revelation that should have every American sitting up straighter in their La-Z-Boys, the former U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) Commander Gen. Frank McKenzie has thrown a spotlight on a growing concern that’s enough to make your hair stand on end. According to McKenzie, ISIS is not just knocking on America’s door – they’re practically laying out a welcome mat, thanks to Joe Biden’s foreign policy, or the lack thereof.
During an interview on ABC News’ “This Week”, McKenzie didn’t mince words when he laid out the grim reality. The man knows his stuff, and when he says ISIS-K (the K stands for “Khorasan,” a branch of ISIS in Afghanistan and Pakistan) retains the capability to attack U.S. and Western interests with little to no warning, you better believe it’s not just hot air.
Here’s where it gets juicy: McKenzie pointed out that keeping ISIS-K in check requires constant pressure, something akin to playing whack-a-mole on a global scale. But thanks to Biden’s decision to pull U.S. forces out of Afghanistan in a move that was chaotic at best and disastrous at worst, that mole has gone from being merely whacked to practically nonexistent. “We no longer place that pressure on them,” McKenzie said, and as a result, ISIS is free to “gain strength, plan, and coordinate” attacks. In other words, Biden’s policy has turned the U.S. into sitting ducks.
McKenzie went on to say that had Biden left the recommended 2,500 troops in Afghanistan, alongside NATO partners, the situation might be a whole different ball game. Instead, we’re left with virtually no ability to see into Afghanistan, let alone strike against ISIS there. The group is growing “unabated,” which is just a fancy way of saying they’re getting stronger by the minute without anyone to stop them.
The ex-CENTCOM commander’s words paint a picture of a U.S. foreign policy that seems more concerned with optics than actual security. Leaving Afghanistan has not only pulled the rug out from under the feet of local security forces but also opened the floodgates for ISIS to potentially establish connections for international attacks. McKenzie’s final words are chilling: “I think the threat is growing… I think this is inevitable.”
So, what’s the takeaway here? If McKenzie’s assessment is right, and there’s no reason to doubt a man with his credentials, then Americans need to sit up and take notice. Biden’s foreign policy isn’t just failing; it’s actively endangering U.S. security. As the threat of ISIS looms larger, one has to wonder: is the current administration capable of reversing course, or are we destined to face the consequences of these blunders head-on? Only time will tell, but for now, it’s clear that the situation is far from under control.
