James Comer Throws Democrat Lawmakers Into Chaos Over Shady Visit to El Salvador Prison

The left’s obsession with defending criminals just hit a new low—and a well-deserved wall. In a humiliating turn of events, four House Democrats—Reps. Robert Garcia (CA), Maxwell Frost (FL), Yassamin Ansari (AZ), and Maxine Dexter (OR)—were denied access to meet with Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a deported illegal alien and alleged MS-13 gang member currently held at El Salvador’s infamous CECOT prison.

The visit was inspired by none other than Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), who recently jetted off to El Salvador—on the taxpayers’ dime, no less—to meet with the same gang-affiliated criminal. Van Hollen’s mission? A photo-op and a margarita with a foreign national who’d been legally deported following a years-long judicial process. Welcome to the Democratic Party’s 2025 platform: protect violent criminals, demonize law enforcement, and sip cocktails while doing it.

Unlike Van Hollen, however, these four representatives had to pay their own way—thanks to Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY), who denied their request for a taxpayer-funded CODEL (Congressional Delegation). Comer wasn’t shy about calling out the hypocrisy.

“It is absurd,” Comer wrote, “that you both displayed active hostility for over two years toward the Committee’s oversight of the Biden Border Crisis… yet now seek travel at Committee expense to meet with foreign gang members.”

Comer even joked that if they were dying to join Van Hollen in sipping cherry-garnished margaritas with gangsters, they’d need to foot the bill themselves. Naturally, Rep. Maxwell Frost didn’t take that well, whining that their access was denied because they weren’t there in an “official capacity.” No kidding.

Meanwhile, Rep. Maxine Dexter upped the drama, declaring she wouldn’t return to the U.S. until Abrego Garcia is released. That’s right—a sitting U.S. lawmaker is threatening to camp out in El Salvador until a violent illegal alien is sent back to America.

It’s worth repeating: Abrego Garcia was ordered deported back in 2019 by an immigration judge, and the ruling was upheld on appeal. The man had his due process. He’s also accused of domestic violence and gang affiliation with MS-13, one of the most notorious criminal organizations in the Western Hemisphere.

This embarrassing circus just confirms what many Americans already know: today’s Democratic Party is more interested in protecting foreign criminals than American citizens. And it’s not going unnoticed.
