It’s getting hard to tell if Joe Biden is an actual former President of the United States or the world’s most confused retirement home escapee. Every time the man steps off a stage, there’s some poor staffer or “handler” scrambling to redirect him before he wanders into the curtains or starts shaking hands with invisible people again. And now, thanks to a hot mic, we actually got to hear how his team talks to him when they forget the cameras are rolling. Spoiler: it sounded less like instructions for the leader of the free world and more like someone wrangling a lost toddler at a shopping mall.
So, here’s the scene. Biden was in Omaha, giving a speech at the Nebraska Democrat Party’s “Ben Nelson Gala.” And for reasons no one can quite figure out, he decided to use that stage to rant about President Trump. He started yelling about how “you work for us, Mr. President!” He went on to claim that there are “no kings in democracies,” right before his own staff had to guide him off stage like he needed a scepter and a chaperone.
Then came the part that’s almost too painful to watch. Biden finishes his speech, turns to leave, and apparently heads in the wrong direction. His handler swoops in and, forgetting the mic is live, says, “You’re going to stay on stage.” And Biden, like a confused grandpa at a family reunion, replies, “I am? Oh.” The handler continues, “You’re going out by the side.” Biden says, “Oh, alright.” You can almost hear the audience’s collective cringe.
This is what the so-called leader of the free world looks like now: needing to be told where to stand and when to move. And it’s not an isolated moment, either. We’ve seen it again and again. He forgets where he’s supposed to go, calls out for dead congresswomen, or looks utterly baffled by the teleprompter. The White House can spin all they want, but everyone can see what’s happening.
The Democrats can pretend this is normal, but it’s not. If a Republican president ever had to be physically steered around by aides while mumbling in confusion, the media would be calling for the 25th Amendment before the speech even ended. But because it’s Joe Biden, we’re told he’s just “folksy” or “relatable.” Give me a break.
The truth is, this isn’t about politics anymore; it’s about competency. The man clearly isn’t in charge. His handlers know it, the media knows it, and the American people can see it with their own eyes. And when you’ve got staff whispering stage directions into his ear like he’s performing in a school play, it’s hard to take anything he says about democracy or leadership seriously.
