Glenn Beck is urging Americans to take a closer look at the platform of the Democratic Socialists of America, arguing that the debate facing the country is no longer simply about Republicans versus Democrats, but about the growing influence of socialist and communist ideas inside American politics.
During a recent broadcast, Beck pointed to comments made by comedian Bill Maher, who recently surprised many viewers by criticizing the Democratic Socialists of America during an episode of his HBO program. According to Beck, Maher’s reaction demonstrated that many Americans, including liberals, are only now beginning to realize how far left some organizations have moved.
Beck noted that Maher told his audience, “Donald Trump has told one trillion lies. But when he says the Democratic Socialists of America are actually communist, that’s not one of them.”
According to Beck, the significance of Maher’s remarks was not that they came from a conservative commentator, but from someone who has long identified with the political left. Beck argued that the audience’s stunned reaction suggested many people had never actually read the DSA’s own platform.
Rather than relying on accusations or anonymous sources, Beck encouraged viewers to examine the organization’s publicly available policy documents themselves.
“They wrote it down. They put it on the internet. They’re proud of it,” Beck said. “All we have to do is introduce them to the rest of America.”
Throughout the segment, Beck quoted directly from portions of the Democratic Socialists of America’s published platform. He highlighted proposals that call for eventually abolishing police and prisons, restructuring the federal government, expanding public ownership of major industries, ending deportations, abolishing Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and replacing significant portions of the current constitutional system.
Beck argued these proposals go well beyond traditional liberal policy positions and instead reflect ideas historically associated with socialism and communism.
He also referenced New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, claiming the mayor has previously echoed language associated with Karl Marx, while pointing to statements from individuals connected with Mamdani’s political circle that Beck believes reinforce his concerns about the direction of the progressive movement.
Another point Beck emphasized was that the DSA’s platform was not an unofficial document or internet post. Instead, he said it was drafted and approved through the organization’s national convention process and formally adopted by its leadership.
“This was a ratified governing document produced by leadership for the purpose of guiding those who get their endorsement,” Beck said.
Beck also cited several Democratic politicians who have expressed concerns about the party’s progressive wing. He referenced comments from Sen. John Fetterman, who described parts of the Democratic Socialist agenda as “anarchy,” as well as criticism from Rep. Henry Cuellar, Sen. Mark Kelly, and Rahm Emanuel regarding some of the movement’s policy positions.
According to Beck, the larger issue is that many Americans remain unfamiliar with the DSA’s stated goals. He pointed to polling that he said shows many voters do not fully understand what Democratic Socialist policies actually include.
Rather than encouraging heated political arguments, Beck urged viewers to simply direct others to the Democratic Socialists of America’s website and allow them to read the platform for themselves.
“When your brother-in-law tells you this is fear-mongering, don’t debate him. Don’t cite me. I’m not the source,” Beck said. “Just send him the URL.”
Beck concluded that Americans should do their own research instead of relying solely on media narratives or political talking points.
“I’ve always told you, you have to do your own homework,” he said. “Because the moment somebody discovers this for himself, it stops being a talking point from a radio host and becomes something he knows.”
